What has happened in HR & Health & Safety Legislation?… an awful lot!
HR Changes
Did you know the ‘Day One’ rights of an employee has changed?
Last year (2020) saw the biggest overhaul in HR legislation as the Government implemented the ‘The Good Work Plan’.
As much of the news in the last 12 months has focussed on COVID-19 and lockdown, it is not surprising many employers may have missed the news of new legislation around HR & Employment Law.
Additional legislation is also going to be implemented in 2021 including the much talked about IR35, meaning Employers will need to be extra vigilant in ensuring they are up to date with the latest changes in employment law and employee / worker / employer rights.
Employees know to go to ACAS if they have a problem or questions around their employee rights. Do you know where to go or what to do if an Employer asks you a question, refuses to fulfill their employee obligations, or raises a complaint against you?
Health & Safety Changes
Are you fully aware of all the risks and hazards in your workplace? Who is ultimately responsible for health and safety, risk assessments and on-going monitoring in your workplace?
Whilst some businesses have already administered changes in order to adhere with Covid-19 safety protocols, many businesses will only now be planning to re-open their doors, ready for post lockdown trading. That means, buildings, equipment and safety devices could have deteriorated over time and may need testing for suitability and safety.
Ensuring the safety of your employees and visitors, and protection of your business long term is of paramount importance and there may be specific compliance and regulations you need to consider for your workplace.
